ZTE Unveils First 4-Path TD-LTE RRU with 40MHz and 80W Capabilities

ZTE Corporation (“ZTE”) (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), a publicly-listed global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, today announced it has introduced the industry’s first 4-path TD-LTE Remote Radio Unit (RRU) that operates at a bandwidth of 40MHz and transmits with a power of 80W.
The new high-power, large-capacity RRU supports 2x20MHz TD-LTE carriers and 80W (20W x 4 paths) of transmission power, and increases edge frequency efficiency by more than 30 percent.
The product increases network coverage and reduces Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for operators. It also brings down costs by supporting two carriers, reducing the number of base station devices needed by operators. The RRU can also be upgraded to support LTE-A, which can further protect operators’ investment.
When used with ZTE’s leading smart antenna technology, the RRU achieves an efficient balance between capacity and coverage, thereby reducing operators’ Capital Expenditures (CAPEX). The RRU is expected to be widely used with future TD-LTE networking systems. It also can be configured into two 2*20W 2T2R RRUs through software configuration, providing a low-cost TD-LTE networking solution.
ZTE is a leader in TDD technology development and has led the industry in the commercialization of TD-LTE technologies and systems. The company offers a range of 2-, 4- and 8-path base stations. As of August 2011, it had built TD-LTE networks in 15 countries through cooperation with 25 leading global operators in Asia, the CIS, Europe and India. ZTE also works with several chipmakers, including Qualcomm, Innofidei, Sequans, and Altair to conduct interoperability tests and to promote the development of the TD-LTE ecosystem.
