TOT assigned to improve 3G service
BANGKOK, 3 January 2009 (NNT) - The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has assigned TOT Plc to enhance the quality of its third-generation (3G) mobile broadband service within 90 days.
Mrs Ranongrak Suwunchwee, Minister of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT), stated that the TOT, which is currently providing the 1900 MHz spectrum service, will speed up increasing its capacity to serve 500,000 users in Bangkok and its perimeter by focusing on the quality of service and advertisement.
The state telecom firm is in the process of mapping out a business plan to expand the 3G market in business, tourism and education areas in up-country provinces such as Chiang Mai, Phuket and Khon Kaen, said Mrs Ranongrak. She added that the plan will be presented to the National Economic and Social Development Board (NESDB) for further consideration and the project is expected to be implemented before mid-2010.
