Chinese group provides 3G equipment for EVN Telecom
China's Huawei Group will provide equipment and solutions for the EVN Telecommunications Company (EVN Telecom) to build its 3G network.
A contract to this effect was signed in Hanoi on November 18.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, EVN Telecom Director Pham Duong Minh said that before EVNTelecom officially launches 3G services on April 30, 2010, the company will set up its network infrastructure with 2,500 base transceiver stations (BTS/Node B) covering 46 percent of the population in the first phase of the project.
EVN Telecom said it got a licence from the Ministry of Information and Telecommunications to provide 3G services in April this year.
Under its commitment, EVN Telecom will officially provide 3G services for its subscribers after nine months since the licence took effect.
